Beautiful Vintage African Lega Tribe Male Female Couple 18.25” Tall Wood Statue Bwami Society Democratic Republic of Congo. Lega initiation figure of Bwami. Within the Lega, this type of statue is linked to the Bwami society whic organizrf social and political life. There were up to 7 levels of initiation, each associated with symbols and artworks. Such as this Back to Back Couple Hand Carved from One Piece of Heavy and Dense Ebony Wood with great grain and character. Very Nice artwork and details. Great textural interest. See the photos.
