About This

  • Golden Hawaiian is the most common tropical bamboo and has been cultivated in the warmer regions of the United States for more than 50 years. The Golden Hawaiian bamboo culms are bright yellow with random green stripes of varying widths . The culms are wide spaced and form fairly open clumps.
  • Golden Hawaiian bamboo is one of the most memorable and outstanding bamboos collected. Bright yellow canes with green stripes that look hand painted. This bamboo is one of the most popular landscape bamboos because of its open clump form.
  • Beautiful canes shoot up 6-12 inches apart to form a spaced out, open clump pattern that is great as a privacy screen. The earlier in the season you can plant your bamboo the better. Bamboo shoots from late Spring-Fall. It grows its roots in the Winter and into Spring.
  • Growth and survival depends on feeding and watering the bamboo. They are fast growers and heavy feeders. All you need to do is feed and water these starts and they will grow into big mature clumps within 3-5 years.
  • Known as painted or clumping bamboo, this decorative bamboo has decorative golden stems that look as if they are painted with green stripes and have narrow lance-shaped leaves up to 8 inches long.
