Vintage Department 56 Dickens Village All Hallows Eve Mordecai Mould Undertaker With Original Box Light Cable & Bulb Included. **CHECK OUT MY NEW DEPT 56 HALLOWEEN FIGURES This is a Department 56 "Mordecai Mould Undertaker" lighted building from the All Hallows' Eve series of the Dickens' Village collection. Excellent shape no chips or cracks. It is a hand-painted, lighted porcelain model of an undertaker's shop. It was introduced in December 2002 and retired in December 2004. The All Hallows' Eve sub-series was created to appeal to collectors for Halloween displays, based on the historical context of the evening before All Saints' Day. The night of All Hallows' Eve was once in England the domain of mystery and imagination. It was the night when, it was thought, the dead came to visit the living and danger threatened in the shadows. Most shops and businesses, even that of the undertaker, would have closed for the day long before nightfall to avoid contact with the spirits of darkness.
