This whimsical children's classic is about the adventures of Chester, a Connecticut cricket trapped in a picnic basket, in Times Square. Published in 1960, it was runner-up for the 1961 Newberry Award. This is hardback 1st Edition 1961 Book Club Edition, without the medal on the cover. It is in very good condition, from a private collection. The dust jacket is in very good condition with just the slightest but of wear on the edges. The cloth cover is clean, and the boards show no wear, fraying, bumping, or rubbing. The binding is tight, and the pages are clean and unmarked. A beautiful, collectible copy of a classic children's book! Drawings by the famed illustrator Garth Williams. Smoke-free home. See all photos carefully to judge the condition.
