Miss Juliana Willoughby Print

Framed 1781 print of "Miss Juliana Willoughby" by the 18th Century British painter George Romney (1734-1802). The painting is a classic example of 18th Century British portraiture. The Hollywood Regency filigree frame is in a vintage and ornate style adding to the work. The original painting was commissioned by Christopher Willoughby to Romney to paint his only child, Juliana, whose wife had died on April 20, 1777. The painting took two years to finish. Juliana sat for the painting at the age of four and was six at the time of its completion. Her original brimless headcap had become too small during the sitting, so Romney changed the cap into a summer hat. The soft colors of her dress contrast with the surroundings, enhancing the vitality and beauty of pure an innocent childhood. It is perfect for a child's room, a hall, or any living space.
