The Vase:
Mint condition! Weighs almost 16oz. Sparkles in the light and has a beautiful sound when struck gently.
Measures 4-1/2" tall x 3-7/8" across the rim (1-1/2" across the rim of the base).
The History:
George Ravenscroft, a skilled glassmaker in the 1670s, is the one who invented lead crystal by adding lead oxide to the glass during the melting phase. This created a more brilliant, heavier, and clearer piece of glass.
Deplomb started as a small workshop, in a region renowned for glassmaking, where skilled artisans crafted exquisite crystal pieces by hand.
Creating lead crystal is a very expensive, time-consuming process due to the cost of the raw materials, such as lead oxide, and the labor-intensive artistic skill required to create the final product.
